Location: This production was filmed in the following locations in North Wales:
Trawsfynydd, Snowdonia National Park
The village of Trawsfynydd came to international attention when a Welsh language film about the life of its most famous son,
the poet 'Hedd Wyn' who was killed during the First World War, was made into an Oscar nominated film.
Trawsfynydd was also the location for the Richard Gere and Sean Connery epic First Knight when the stunning
scenery around the village was transformed into Ancient Briton and hundreds of locals were decked out in medieval
finery to double up as King Arthur's court.
Prestatyn, Denbighshire
The filming location in Prestatyn no longer exists. Prestatyn, or Tower Beach, Holiday Camp was built as
a joint venture between the LMS Railway and Thomas Cook in 1939 and famous for its wonderful architecture.
Considered one of the best holiday camps in Wales and able to accommodate over 1700 people on its 41 acres.
It was sold to Pontins in the late 1970s but closed in 1984 although most of the buildings were not
demolished until 2001. A few companies used the site for filming before its demolition and eventually
the land was sold for a reputed £5 million and is now a housing estate known as Tower Gardens. Prestatyn
town is a bustling and busy town, famous for its beach and now as a Walkers Are Welcome accredited town
(being at the start/finish of the national Offa's Dyke Path).
