Location: Dolgellau
Behind Dolgellau's façade of a picture perfect example of a small Welsh market town is a big role in the nation's history. During the days of Owain Glyndwr's rebellion against the English, Dolgellau was the location of his last Welsh Parliament in 1404.
Nowadays Dolgellau plays a cultural rather than political role in Welsh life by playing host to Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau every July. Sesiwn Fawr has grown from very humble beginnings on the town square in 1992 into one of the UK's biggest and best world music festivals. Sesiwn Fawr offers a mix of home grown stars including The Super Furry Animals and Cerys Mathews with across continental array of musicians including Los de Abajo and Freshlyground.
