Location: St Hywyns Church, Aberdaron
St Hywyn's Church was famous for being where respected poet the Rev. R S Thomas preached his sermons.
Perched at the very edge of the Llŷn Peninsula overlooking Bardsey Island you would be hard pressed to find a more dramatic location anywhere in the UK. The story of the Rev. Evelyn Davies and how she came to be the current Vicar at St. Hywyn and nearby Aberdaron is worthy of any television drama.
During her 35 year marriage to the Rev Paul Davies Evelyn had a recurring dream about being the Vicar of Aberdaron. When her husband sadly died in 1993 she turned her grief into inspiration and trained to become a vicar herself and continued her husband's work. She was chosen to revive the parish in October 2000 and continues to do so to this day.
There is a saying on the Llŷn Peninsula which goes "If the weather is nice stay here; if it isn't, go anywhere else".
Warm waters lie off the areas numerous beaches which are famed for their surf making the town of Abersoch a top draw for surfers and sailers from all over the UK and beyond.- don't' forget the world famous jazz festival in early June each year. The Llŷn Peninsula's reputation for water sports has attracted the Wakestock festival to the area.
Wakestock is Europe's largest Wakeboarding (an exciting new sport which crosses surfing with watersking) competition. Every July thousands of Wakeboarders descend on the area to compete in a major championship - there is also a music festival which attracts some of the world's top DJs and bands with Feeder, Carl Cox and The Zutons topping this year's bill.

And if you're feeling peckish after a day's bargain hunting amongst the markets various stalls the Maes is also home to Allports which once held the title of Britain's best fish and chip shop!
